Bulgaria’s wheat output rises 7.7% y/y in 2017.

Bulgaria has harvested 5.76 million tonnes of wheat from this year’s crop by August 31, 7.7% more than a year earlier, the agriculture ministry said on Tuesday.

Wheat was collected from 1,092,841 hectares, or 100% of the total area put to wheat, the ministry said in a statement.

The harvested area was 2.5% lower compared to the prior-year figure.

Bulgaria also harvested 620,371 tonnes of barley by August 31, 13.6% less than a year earlier. The harvested area was 130,529 hectares, or 99.8% of the total area under barley.
